job Description
We are seeking talented individuals who want to help shape young minds and teach them the skills they need to be successful. Responsibilities include grading assignments, evaluating student progress, and planning educational activities.
The Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with exceptional needs, ensuring they receive an equitable and individualized education that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth. The teacher will develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as Academic Improvement Plans (AIPs), collaborate with general education teachers, and create an inclusive learning environment that meets diverse student needs.
requirements
- Must be a Christian and actively attend a local church
- Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching, Special Education, or related field
- Valid state teaching certification in ESE
- In-depth knowledge of teaching methods
- Experience working with children and students with disabilities in an educational setting
- Knowledge of development, accommodations, and special education laws
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Physical ability: walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 30 lbs
- Ability to use technology to support differentiated instruction and student learning
- Full-time position Monday through Friday
- Work day from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Desire for continued professional growth and willingness to travel if necessary
essential responsibilities
- Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and others
- Follow and enforce rules, policies, and procedures
- Support the philosophy and mission of Trinity Christian Academy
- Adapt to change and handle additional assigned tasks
- Develop and implement lesson plans that accommodate varying student needs
- Provide direct instruction in small group and individual settings based on students’ IEPs/AIPs
- Modify curriculum and instructional methods to meet diverse learning styles
- Utilize research-based interventions and differentiated instructional strategies
- Assist students in developing self-advocacy and independent learning skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the classroom is clean and orderly
- Attend parent-teacher meetings
- Evaluate and document student progress
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to develop and review IEPs
- Ensure compliance with all legal and procedural requirements for special education services
- Implement behavior management strategies to support students in meeting goals
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and self-confidence
- Meet with students, parents, teachers, and the Chief of Guidance & Instruction to discuss progress, concerns, and future growth opportunities
- Attend training sessions, conferences, and seminars for continued professional development
- Participate in staff meetings and school events, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Report directly to the Chief of Guidance & Instruction and Head of School
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Guidance & Instruction or Head of School
