Science Teacher / Instructor

Full-Time | Deltona, FL

job Description

The Science Teacher is responsible for creating a dynamic learning environment that fosters academic excellence, critical thinking, and spiritual growth through the instruction of science from a biblical worldview. This individual will engage students in scientific exploration while helping them understand God’s creation through hands-on learning, inquiry, and academic rigor.

requirements

  • Must be a Christian and actively attend a local church
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or related field required
  • Teaching certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and laboratory procedures
  • Classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Commitment to Christian education and agreement with the school’s statement of faith
  • Physical ability: walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 30 lbs
  • Full-time position Monday through Friday
  • Work day from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Desire for continued professional growth and willingness to travel if necessary

essential responsibilities

  1. Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and others
  2. Follow and enforce rules, policies, and procedures
  3. Support the philosophy and mission of Trinity Christian Academy
  4. Adapt to change and handle additional assigned tasks

INSTRUCTIONS & curriculum

  • Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with curriculum standards
  • Teach science courses such as Life Science, Physical Science, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Anatomy
  • Integrate a biblical worldview into science instruction while maintaining academic excellence
  • Develop lesson plans that include labs, experiments, demonstrations, and project-based learning
  • Differentiate instruction to meet varying student needs
  • Utilize technology and instructional tools to enhance learning
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans and pacing guides

classroom management

  • Maintain a structured, safe, and respectful classroom environment
  • Set clear expectations for behavior and academic performance
  • Address discipline issues according to school policies
  • Foster positive student relationships built on respect and accountability

laboratory management

  • Maintain a safe laboratory environment
  • Ensure proper use, storage, and inventory of lab equipment and chemicals
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols
  • Supervise students during experiments and hands-on activities

student assessment

  • Create and administer assessments to measure student progress
  • Grade assignments and provide timely feedback
  • Maintain accurate records in the school’s student information system
  • Communicate academic progress with students and parents

spiritual development

  • Model Christian character in words and actions
  • Integrate biblical principles into classroom instruction
  • Pray with and for students when appropriate
  • Participate in chapel services and ministry opportunities
  • Support the mission of Christian education and discipleship

communication & collaboration

  • Maintain professional communication with parents, students, and staff
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences as needed
  • Collaborate with administration and faculty members

school involvement

  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events
  • Participate in extracurricular activities as assigned
  • Support school initiatives and community events
  • Attend training sessions, conferences, and seminars for continued professional development
  • Participate in staff meetings and school events, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Report directly to the Chief of Guidance and Instruction and Head of School
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
